| Post Question Hour in Parliament today, the Opposition will formally launch its attack against the government on the issue of rising prices.
In the Lok Sabha, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha will move a motion against the government. After extensive negotiations yesterday, the government agreed that the debate will be followed by a vote.
The resolution on which the debate will be on is "that despite repeated discussions on price rise in the House, the burden of price rise on the common man is continuing. Expressing deep concern over price rise, this House calls upon the Government to take immediate effective steps to check inflation that will give relief to the common man."
Earlier, the government had said it would not debate the issue under rules that entail voting and make the House's recommendations binding.
The Opposition's part of the compromise saw it agreeing to a motion that doesn't indict the government for prices. Instead, it refers to "deep concern over the failure to curb rising prices."
