Chief Justice of India wants better
Chief Justice of India wants better security for Supreme Court
 INDIA , 7-September-2011  6:20:40 AM
The Supreme Court is considering new security measures after a bomb exploded at the nearby Delhi High Court this morning. Ten people were killed and 50 injured. The bomb at the High Court was placed in a briefcase at the reception area near Gate No 5.

The Chief Justice of India Justice SH Kapadia reviewed the current security for the Supreme Court along with a few other senior judges. An email sent to media organizations including NDTV states that terrorist group HuJI claims responsibility for today's attack and warns "..... our demand is that Afzal Guru's death sentence should be repealed immediately else we would target major high courts & THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA.........."

Interrupting a hearing on the Vodafone tax case, Justice Kapadia asked famous lawyers Harish Salve, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Solicitor General Rohinton Nariman about the sort of security that's used at parliament. Mr Singhvi informed him that cars allowed into the parliament complex have special passes with embedded chips. When the car passes a gate, the photograph of the MP inside flashes up on a computer screen.

The Chief Justice asked Mr Singhvi for a detailed note with an estimate of how much this would cost.
