| Maoists have written an open letter to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee saying that joint forces should be withdrawn from the West Midnapore district if talks with the government are to bear fruit. (Read: Mamata gives go ahead for talks with Maoists)
Maoists have reportedly also said that there is no question of any attempts on her life.
Mamata Banerjee had recently taken a hard line against the Maoists saying negotiations and murders cannot happen simultaneously.
Her statement had come after the murder of one Trinamool leader and another party supporter in the last 10 days.
She had also alleged some Maoists elements were moving around her house to try and kill her.
Maoist leader Akash has now sent an open letter to the chief minister saying they negotiations and operations against the Maoists also cannot carry on at the same time.
Despite the hardening of her stand against Maoists, Mamata Banerjee yesterday met the interlocutors appointed by her to talk to the Maoists and told them to continue negotiations with the left wing extremists
