Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has assured Arunachal Pradesh that the Centre will consider a special package to fund key projects that have been stalled after China objected to an Asian Development Bank loan to the state in 2009.
The finance minister made the assurance when state Chief Minister Nabam Tuki called on him in New Delhi yesterday, official sources informed on Monday.
China had objected to the ADB's plans to lend $ 60 million to the state for funding various projects.
During the meeting, Tuki reminded Mukherjee about the Centre's assurance to former chief minister Dorjee Khandu that funds would never be a problem for the state's development before seeking a special package.
Tuki asked the finance minister to consider proposals amounting to Rs 1,213.53 crore for infrastructure development in state capital Itanagar, besides another Rs 396 crore for integrated river and flood management, which was earlier to be funded by the ADB.
