Baby Falak's sister found, brought
Baby Falak's sister found, brought to Delhi
 INDIA , 7-February-2012  3:45:48 AM
Slowly, the family portrait of two-year-old Baby Falak is being completed. A day after her mother was traced to Rajasthan and brought to Delhi, Falak's elder sister has been found in Bihar and brought to Delhi. Her five-year-old brother remains missing.

According to some reports, the young woman, Munni, was slated to meet Falak today after four months. But news agency IANS now reports that she would not be allowed to meet Falak till DNA tests prove that she is indeed the baby's biological mother. "Munni's DNA test is yet to be done. It will take some time and investigations are still on, so we are not taking her to AIIMS today (Tuesday) to meet the child," IANS quotes a senior Delhi Police official as saying.

Falak is in hospital in Delhi - her name was given by the doctors and nurses who are trying to save her life. She was brought there by a teen in January. Falak has "battered baby syndrome," the result of severe physical abuse.

It took the Delhi Police weeks to locate Munni, who is being "treated as a victim and not an accused." Munni, originally from Bihar, was abandoned by her husband after they had three children. She was promised a job in Delhi by an acquaintance, left Bihar and moved to Delhi with her three children. Two women in the capital, named Lakshmi and Kanta, tried to persuade her into prostitution. When she refused, they encouraged her to marry a man from Rajasthan, promising that he would look after her children eventually. The man allegedly paid Rs. two lakh to the women for arranging his marriage. Munni moved to Rajasthan. Hoping to persuade her husband to accept her son and daughters. She left her children behind. Falak was handed from one adult to another, till she ended up with a teenager who brought her to the hospital on January 18. She had eloped with a man named Rajkumar. He is still missing.
