| Mumbai: In an exclusive interview to NDTV, on the eve of the Mumbai civic polls, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has said that his party has no anti-North Indian agenda and that development is their only mantra.
"If you were in my chair and municipal corporation would be in your hands, how can you say something like the water that is being supplied will only go to houses of Marathis, won't go to the others? Facilities are for everyone," Mr Thackeray said in an exclusive interview to NDTV.
"It's not a question of being anti-North Indian, Rahul Gandhi is himself calling North-Indians beggars. Priyanka Gandhi has also said the same. Those people would have to look into that because it is their claim," Mr Thackeray added, taking a dig at the Congress.
He said he would give the Shiv Sena-BJP ruled municipal corporation high marks for governance. "When you talk about power and the authority that the municipality has, then my municipality has done a much better job than even the state government. (Q: So can we call it 8 out of 10?) Maybe 9," said the Shiv Sena leader.
On the MMS controversy in the Karnataka Assembly, Mr Thackeray had a single line advice for his allies the BJP, "Those MLAs should be kicked out."
A confident Mr Thackeray said that the NCP-Congress combine is worried by his leadership skills. He says NCP chief Sharad Pawar was only to be seen in Mumbai on days when there was a cricket match.
Tomorrow is the last day of campaigning for the BMC polls. Mumbai votes on this Thursday to elect its 227 municipal corporators.
