Kingfisher pilots report sick in protest, many flights cancelled

Kingfisher passengers faced a fresh hell today as many flights - 40, according to some reports - were cancelled. The crisis was created by pilots who called in sick to highlight that their salaries have not been paid for several months.
Some reports said 11 flights were cancelled out of Mumbai alone.
Kingfisher once again blamed the Income Tax department for its problems. "This situation has arisen as a consequence of our bank accounts having been frozen by the tax authorities. We are making all possible efforts to remedy this temporary situation," the airline explained in a statement. "We expect to return to our full schedule shortly. Those guests whose flights are affected are being notified. They are either being accommodated on other airlines or offered a full refund," it said.
Kingfisher has been struggling with massive financial debt of $1.3 billion, and losses of Rs. 444 crore in the quarter that ended in December.
Through the last few months, its passengers have complained about poor service. They say the airline fails to provide enough notice about its flights which have been cancelled or delayed on different occasions due to unpaid bills for fuel and other service providers
