Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has told NDTV that there is a possibility of another team's involvement in the IPL
So far, three Rajasthan Royals players - S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - have been arrested in the scam. Their contract has been suspended by their franchise, pending inquiry. At least 10 alleged bookies and several middlemen have also been arrested from cities across the country. Actor Vindu Dara Singh is also being probed for his alleged role.
Speaking to NDTV, Mr Kumar said the Delhi Police has information about the possibility of another team's involvement, but is yet to collect concrete evidence
There is a possibility (of another IPL team's involvement). We were hoping for a breakthrough... it hasn't materialized as yet," he said.
Mr Kumar also added that pacer Sreesanth has admitted to wrongdoing during his interrogation. The Delhi Police alleges that he was paid Rs. 40 lakhs by bookies to give away 14 or more runs in an over in a match against Kings XI Punjab on May 9. Chandila, they allege, spot-fixed in a match against Pune Warriors India on May 5. He was paid an advance of Rs. 20 lakhs to fix the over, they say.
Sreesanth, Chandila and Chavan were arrested by the Delhi Police on May 16. They have been sent to judicial custody till June 4 and are currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail
