| Uttarakhand floods: 40 bodies found in Haridwar this morning

| Forty bodies of flood victims were today recovered from Haridwar, taking the toll in rain-ravaged Uttarakhand to over 150. Operations to rescue over 9,000 people, stranded in Kedarnath and Badrinath, meanwhile have been stepped up with the deployment of at least 40 helicopters.
As the magnitude of the tragedy continued to unfold, Uttarakhand Principal Secretary Rakesh Sharma said casualty figures could be "shockingly high".
In Haridwar, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Swaroop said 40 bodies of those killed in the flash floods and incessant rains had been found.
