| BJP leader Gopinath Munde claims Rs. 8 crore was spent during 2009 Lok Sabha election campaign

| Mumbai: Member of Parliament and senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde has claimed that a whopping Rs. eight crores were spent during his 2009 Lok Sabha election campaign.
Speaking at a function in Mumbai on Thursday, Mr Munde said "I spent Rs. 29,000 when I contested my first assembly poll in 1980. Rs. eight crore were spent for my last (2009 Lok Sabha) election."
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari were also present at the function when Mr Munde spoke about his electioneering career and the increasing cost of contesting elections.
Mr Munde is a Member of Parliament from Beed and BJP's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha.
