After visiting Odisha, Narendra Mod
After visiting Odisha, Narendra Modi to meet RSS chief in Nagpur today
 INDIA , 16-July-2013  4:38:2 AM
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi landed in Odisha this morning for what the BJP describes as a "non-political visit." From Odisha he will go to Nagpur, where he will meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Mr Modi arrived in Bhubaneshwar in a chartered flight and then drove to Puri where he will meet the seer, Puri Shankaracharya.

"(The Gujarat CM's) Odisha visit is totally non-political. He will seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath. He is a devotee of the Lord and used to perform the 'chhera pahanra' (sweeping of the chariots) for the car festival in Ahmedabad," a local BJP leader said

Later in the evening, Mr Modi, the BJP's campaign committee chief, will seek the blessings of the party's ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS, at its headquarters in Nagpur. He is expected to discuss the BJP's election strategy with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Mr Bhagwat has already met party seniors like Murli Manohar Joshi and LK Advani and BJP president Rajnath Singh earlier this month.

The RSS is believed to have insisted that Mr Modi's elevation as BJP election campaign committee chief be announced at the party's Goa meeting, despite Mr Advani being absent. Mr Advani had skipped the meet in protest against the promotion for Mr Modi, and had resigned from all party posts a day later. He rescinded the resignation after Mr Bhagwat intervened.

The RSS has since made it clear that there must be no more hurdles in the way of Narendra Modi as he takes centrestage in the run-up to 2014 general elections.
