| Narendra Modi is hosting LK Advani in Gujarat today and both BJP leaders will share the stage at the inauguration of a series of gardens built along the Sabarmati river in capital Ahmedabad.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's invitation cards particularly mention that Mr Advani, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Gandhinagar, will inaugurate the gardens in the presence of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
When the two leaders shared stage at a massive Bhopal rally in September, Mr Advani made no move to mask the cold vibes he shares with his one-time protégé. When Mr Modi touched his feet, Mr Advani stared stonily ahead and did not "bless him" the way he did other leaders like Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. (At Bhopal rally, Narendra Modi touches LK Advani's feet, but veteran looks away)
The 85-year-old Mr Advani had opposed the elevation of Mr Modi first as the BJP's election campaign chief and then last month as the party's candidate for prime minister for the 2014 general elections. The party rode rough shod over the veteran's objections each time.
Soon after he was named presumptive PM, Mr Modi met Mr Advani at the birthday party of another BJP leader Ram Jethmalani. Amid much awkwardness, both had avoided sitting next to each other despite the best efforts of the host.
Before today's public function, Mr Modi and Mr Advani are attending a closed door meeting of the Somnath Temple Trust. Also at the meeting will be Keshubhai Patel, who had left the BJP last year to float his own outfit in rebellion against Mr Modi.
Mr Modi, who had replaced Mr Patel as Gujarat chief minister 12 years ago never to look back, seemed to attempt a mending of fences last month when he visited the veteran politician on his birthday, only a few days after he was named the BJP's candidate for PM
