| My heart bleeds over these scenes: PM on Telangana protests in Parliament

| The proposal to divide Andhra Pradesh and carve out a state of Telangana led to ugly and embarrassing scenes in Parliament today.
"My heart bleeds to see what is happening in the House. This is bad for democracy," said the Prime Minister, shortly after MPs from the Congress and Telugu Desam Party nearly came to blows in the Lok Sabha and had to be held back by other lawmakers.
Protests forced both houses to adjourn repeatedly today.
In the Lok Sabha, four union ministers left their seats and rushed towards the Speaker's chair to protest. KS Rao, D Purandeshwari, Chiranjeevi and K Surya Prakash Reddy - the ministers who were protesting - belong to the non-Telangana regions of Seemandhra which are vehemently opposed to the division of Andhra Pradesh.
"There is widespread perception that injustice is being done, it is expected of us to put up a final battle in Lok Sabha," said Pallam Raju, another minister from Seemandhra.
Congress MP Madhu Yakshi Goud stood protectively near Sonia Gandhi as the slogan-shouting and loud arguments drowned out Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge's speech on his department's interim budget.
Since this session began on February 5, Parliament has been paralyzed with angry disruptions from lawmakers opposed to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Papers have been torn and flung inside and mics pulled out.
