| Tehelka case: Tarun Tejpal allowed to visit unwell mother

| Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal, lodged in a jail for allegedly raping a junior colleague, was today granted permission by a Goa court to visit his mother who is reportedly unwell.
Mr Tejpal, 50, has been behind bars since November last year. In his plea filed before the court, he had said he wanted to visit his mother who is suffering from brain tumour and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mapusa, nearly 50 kms from the jail where he is currently lodged.
His lawyer said the court jail has allowed him to meet his mother tomorrow. The order on his bail petition, filed before the Goa Bench of Bombay High Court, is expected to be pronounced later today.
Mr Tejpal is accused of raping a junior woman colleague during a Tehelka magazine event at a Goa hotel in November last year.
