| Assam-Nagaland Border Clashes: Centre Preps Roadmap To Control Violence

| 1A Central government note alleges that the current spate of violence began with a land dispute between two men, a Naga and an Assamese, which was fanned by social activists and politicians, with insurgent outfits in both states jumping in.
2The note alleges that when Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited the area on Tuesday, local Congress leaders opposed to him joined Adivasi groups and "organised a huge protest," further adding to the tension.
3Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju is in Guwahati today, where he will meet the chief ministers of Assam Tarun Gogoi and Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang. He is expected to discuss the Centre's road map with them. Mr Rijiju will visit Golaghat district, the epicentre of the violence, later in the day.
4The Centre will relocate more forces to the Golaghat area. There are 200 companies of central paramilitary forces already in the region and another five to six companies have been sent.
5The Centre also wants Nagaland to announce compensation equal to the Rs. eight lakh each announced by Assam for all those killed in the ethnic clash. The Narendra Modi government reckons that if Nagaland pledges compensation for the Assamese people killed,
