| Three students have been expelled from Gwalior's famous Scindia School for the alleged ragging of a 14-year-old boy, who is in a Delhi hospital.
The students, along with two staff members of the school, were booked in an FIR or First Information Report that charges them with "voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult and giving false information".
On August 22, the boy, son of Bihar Cooperatives minister Jai Kumar Singh, was brought from Gwalior to a Delhi hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit or ICU with symptoms of asphyxiation.
In a statement, the school said the boy was found unconscious in the dormitory on the night of August 20, after which he was moved to a nursing home in Gwalior. It also said that it had set up a committee to investigate what happened.
The teenager's father said the school had claimed he had tried to kill himself. "But I strongly dispute this," he was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying. "Even doctors attending on him at Apollo hospital said it does not seems a case of suicide but that of him being throttled," he alleged, adding that the school had not informed the boy's local guardians about the incident.
