Rajasthan Government Starts Maggi
Rajasthan Government Starts Maggi Sample Testing
 INDIA , 4-June-2015  6:3:33 AM
The Rajasthan government today started inspection and sample collection of Maggi noodles from markets across the state, following reports of high lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG) content in the popular snack.

"Food Inspection officers in all the districts have been asked to carry out inspection and collect two samples daily. Similar products will also be covered under the campaign," said Aditya Atrey, Additional Director (Rural Heath), Medical and Health department.

The officers will have to submit compliance report on a daily basis, he said, adding, the samples collected from different batches and dates will be tested for such contents.

A letter to launch the special campaign till June 10 was written by Mr Atrey yesterday following directions of the Health Minister.

"All the food inspectors of the state have been directed to collect random samples of Maggi noodles from the retail stores from across the state. The samples would then be sent to Ghaziabad for test in laboratory, he told adding the report is expected within 15 days," said State Health minister Rajendra Rathore, who was on a day visit to Kota on Wednesday.
