On Lalit Modi Row, Sushma Swaraj 'Keen to Make Statement' in Parliament

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has been attacked by the opposition for helping disgraced cricket boss Lalit Modi get travel papers in Britain, is keen to make a statement in Parliament on the controversy, sources have said.
The Congress says Sushma Swaraj must be sacked for helping Mr Modi, who it calls a "fugitive", obtain documents to travel out of Britain last year, at a time his passport stood cancelled by the Indian government.

Ms Swaraj has defended her move, saying she helped Mr Modi on "humanitarian grounds", so he could be with his wife for her treatment in Portugal.
At an all-party meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a united opposition demanded an investigation against Ms Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also caught in the Lalit Modi controversy.
The BJP's top leaders including the Prime Minister met last night to finalize their strategy and decided that hey will counter the opposition aggressively.
