What About Virat Kohli, Asks DDCA
What About Virat Kohli, Asks DDCA Rebutting Corruption Charges
 INDIA , 30-December-2015  7:46:58 AM
Delhi's cricket body DDCA today said it would sue Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for making "wild and baseless" allegations of corruption in the selection of players. "If the charges were true, Virat Kohli wouldn't be the captain today," said the association's acting chief Chetan Chauhan.

In an interview to NDTV on Tuesday, Mr Kejriwal had alleged "major wrongdoing" in the selection of players by the DDCA or Delhi and District Cricket Administration. He revealed that a senior journalist's wife was asked by an official to visit him at night at his home about a month ago.

"His (the senior journalist's) son plays cricket. He told me that his son was selected, he got a call that his son was selected. In the evening when the list came, his name was not there. Can you believe that the next day, the journalist's wife got an SMS that you come to my (official's) place at night, your son's selection will be done," Mr Kejriwal said.

The Chief Minister did not take names or offer any evidence.

Mr Chouhan, a former cricketer, said: "We have no such information. Nobody complained to us. If someone has to complain they are welcome to tell us and we will keep the information and the names confidential. Obviously, it is a very serious matter which has to be dealt with utmost seriousness."

The cricket body has strongly denied Mr Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party's allegation of massive financial bungling and fraud during the time Finance Minister Arun Jaitley headed it. Mr Jaitley, who was DDCA president for 13 years till 2013, has filed a defamation case against Mr Kejriwal and AAP.

Earlier today, AAP released two letters that it claimed were proof that Mr Jaitley tried to pressure the Delhi police to close an investigation into a cricket club being privatized.

Firing five new questions at Mr Jaitley, AAP asked: "Is it not a fact that you misused your position as leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha to pressure Delhi Police?"
