| Goa's minister for Town and Planning, Babush Monserrate, who is also the architect of the controversial development plan resigned late on Wednesday night.
His resignation comes in the wake of protests against the plan, which many see as damaging to Goa's fragile environment and heritage.
Monseratte, a high profile minister in Pratapsinh Rane's Congress government, submitted his resignation to the state Governor.
"I have sent my resignation to the CM at around 11 30 pm (local time). I have explained the reasons for my resignation in the letter. I don't want to talk about it," said Monseratte.
The resignation comes just weeks after NDTV had reported on Monserrat and his controversial plan.
Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane said he has not formally accepted the minister's resignation.
He added that Monserrate had resigned under media pressure.
"We will discuss the matter with the Governor and then take decision. Monserrate said he was under pressure from the media," said Rane.
Controversial move
Despite the raging controversy Monserrat's trademark brash no-holds-barred style was on display when NDTV team met him to understand why one man and his plan had brought Goa to a boil.
On the day NDTV meet him Babush showed the new road he's cut right through a paddy field so that he can zip between his official residence and his spanking new home on Miramar Beach
