| A small time vendor in Andhra Pradesh had big dreams for her bright son but a tragic accident has left them shattered.
Eleven years ago, Janardhan was studying to be a mechanical engineer in Bangalore and the mother worked as a curd vendor so that her son could one day go to Australia.
But a head injury in a road accident left the 19-year-old in a limbo. "God has been very unfair to me. My son studied so well," said Lakshamma, mother.
Now Janardhan needs his mother's help round the clock and there is no income, no money for treatment and no hope.
Appeal for help
That has broken the mother so much that she wonders sometimes if death would be better for her son as there is no one after her to look after him.
"I brought poison home three times but I could not kill him. I can't do wrong. I can't steal but I can beg for my son. Is Rajasekhara Reddy blind? Can't he help the two of us?" she says.
Janardhan's mark sheet speaks volumes. He got an 80 in applied mathematics and wanted to, rather, wants to be a mechanical engineer.
On their part, the locals say he is still the most educated youth in Danduvaripalle village.
Janardhan had slipped into coma for five months immediately after the accident, even now doctors are not hopeful Janardhan can ever be his old self again but his dreams remain.
