| The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decided to take on the Opposition parties, particularly Telugu Desam and Communist Party of India (Marxist), in the budget session of the Assembly beginning on Monday and expose their "double standard."
The critical stand taken by TDP and CPI (M) on different issues came up for discussion at the executive meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) held here on Sunday. The mood of the executive was in favour of an anti-CPI (M) stand as it was now sailing with the Telugu Desam Party.
Some members are believed to have complained that some Ministers were obliging the CPI (M) and TRS leaders, more than those belonging to the ruling party. They wondered why these two parties were getting preference when they had taken a strident anti-Government posture.
YSR's displeasure
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy who addressed the meeting reportedly advised the Congress members to be present in full strength and counter the attack by the Opposition. He is said to have expressed displeasure at the frequent absence of some party legislators and asked the CLP to furnish a list of such members.
Members opined that the decisions taken in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meetings could be announced on the floor of the House so that the Opposition parties stood exposed, if they changed their stand.
To a suggestion that the Assembly should meet once every month, Dr. Reddy wanted them to study its feasibility.
When the members suggested that the adjournment notices be taken up after the question hour to avoid disruption of the regular business, he observed that there was no unanimity on the issue.
