In a potentially embarrassing incident for Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his parents-in-law were on Tuesday caught travelling without ticket in the AC first class coach of the Sampark Kranti Express in Bihar.
Shiv Prasad Choudhary and his wife, parents of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, were found travelling without ticket near Chapra railway station during a ticket-checking drive launched by the East Central Railway, official sources said. Chapra is the Parliamentary constituency of Prasad.
The couple, in their late seventies, were travelling from Hajipur to Siwan when the Train Ticket Examiner discovered that they were ticketless, the sources said.
Railway sources said they would be slapping a fine on them in accordance with the rules and issue tickets in order to legalise their journey. The train was going to New Delhi from Muzaffarpur.
