Trauma continues for blast victims'
An inconsolable father finally came face to face with the moment of truth.
 INDIA , 24-February-2007  2:38:20 AM
The trauma continues for Samjhauta Express blast survivor Shaukat and his family. His five children who were killed in the blasts will be buried in Pakistan later in the day.

On Friday, Shaukat and his wife Rukhsana identified the charred bodies of their five children and their burnt clothes.

An inconsolable father finally came face to face with the moment of truth.

A family of eight that had expected to get back home to Pakistan will now have to bear the burden of five bodies - all of them little children.

Even at a time like this Shaukat is fully cooperating with the investigating agencies.

Discharged from Safdarjung Hospital for Panipat around 4.30 pm on Thursday, they reached Panipat well past 10 in the night.

Traumatic identification

The couple was supposed to take the special Pak flight but insisted on coming to Panipat in search of their missing children.

Asked why a two-hour journey took so long, Shaukat said he was taken to ITO first to assist with the sketches and then brought to Panipat.

After that they were taken to the charred bogies to get an account of what had happened on the day of the blasts - the description of passengers, anything he remembered.

The family had come to India after a gap of 18 months to meet relatives but the visit has changed the life of the general store owner forever.

The couple's only solace now is Aksa, who they say was saved by Allah to given them a reason to live.

Meanwhile, the gruesome task of burying the blast victims who have still not been identified will begin later on Saturday.

The local administration has got clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs for mass burial of unidentified bodies.
