| First the huge fee hike by the fee committee, and now the pressure tactics by medical colleges to pay up or lose a year. Troubles of the medical students in Maharashtra just don't seem to end.
"They have told us that if you don't pay then we will charge you late fees of Rs 500 per day, they have stopped extra facilities," said medical student.
Earlier this year, the fee committee nearly doubled the fees of medical colleges.
The students claim the hike is unjustified since they already pay for everything from petrol expenses, advertising costs, bank commission charges even legal fees of the colleges, a fact that NDTV recently exposed.

But authorities maintain that there's no other way and rising costs mean higher fees.
"They have given an undertaking that they will pay up the extra fees. Infact the management feels that there needs to be another revision of fees because we can't absorb the losses," said Dr Vinayak Dewoolkar, Dean, K J Somaiya Medical college.
NDTV: You mean another fee hike?
Dewoolkar: Yes more fee hike.
The pressure of their upcoming exams has just intensified the confrontation between the students and colleges and the fee committee that hiked the fees.
While first year exams are in May, the deadline to fill their forms ends in two weeks failing which they will not be able to give exams, which means that they will lose a year.
Left with little choice, the students may once again turn to the courts for help.
