| World Cup group C, St Lucia: New Zealand 363-5 beat Canada 249-9 by 114 runs
Wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum smashed the fastest ever World Cup fifty off just 20 balls as New Zealand beat Canada by 114 runs.
And Lou Vincent made up for the two ducks he had scored in his first two matches by smashing a century as New Zealand hit 363-5 in their 50 overs.
Canada were all out for 249 in the final over but gave a good account of themselves as they bowed out.
Opener captain John Davison gave them hope hitting a 23-ball fifty.
He punished the opening attack of Daryl Tuffey and Michael Mason as Canada were scoring at more than seven an over in the first 10 overs.
But he was was out for 52 and Canada failed to keep the tempo going as the run rate crept up.
Ian Billcliff scored a fifty and Geoff Barnett took time in collating 40 but once he was out, fine-edging spinner Daniel Vettori, Canada lost wickets at regular intervals.
Spinners Jeetan Patel and Vettori took three wickets each.
Earlier New Zealand, already through to the Super 8s, were asked to bat first in this meaningless match in St Lucia
And the Kiwis were happy to fill their boots with captain Stephen Fleming hitting 66.
He and Vincent put on 142 for the first wicket before Fleming steered Kevin Sandher to mid-wicket.
Peter Fulton then came for his first action of the tournament and helped Vincent continue the heavy rate of scoring.
Fulton added 47 before falling lbw to Sandher to bring Scott Syris to the crease but he departed after making 28.
Craig McMillan added just 10 to the total and paved the way for McCullum and Jacob Oram, both big-hitters and they took up their challenge with gusto.
They added an unbeaten 85 for the sixth wicket, smashing eight sixes and one four between them.
The Kiwis rested key bowlers Shane Bond and James Frankling, while Ross Taylor missed the match with an injury
