Two headmasters, teacher held
The headmasters and the teacher who were arrested by the J.J. Nagar police in Bangalore
 INDIA , 30-March-2007  4:39:49 AM
The J.J. Nagar police here have arrested two high school headmasters, both brothers, and a teacher on charges of taking money from students and abetting fraud during the SSLC examination that concluded on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) K.V. Sharathchandra told The Hindu on Thursday that the three were caught on Wednesday evening while they were allegedly replacing the original answer scripts with fraudulent ones at the Government High School in Goripalya.

The arrested were identified as Thimmaiah (57), headmaster of the Government High School, Goripalya, his brother Venkatesh (42), headmaster of the Government High School, Chickpet, and Enjeerappa, a Hindi teacher at the Goripalya school. They had taken Rs. 20,000 each from nearly 20 candidates, all repeaters, who had appeared for the examination at the Fort High School in Chamarajpet, Mr. Sharathchandra said.

The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) had appointed Thimmaiah and Venkatesh as route officers during the SSLC examination and provided a car to each. Their duty was to collect the answer scripts from the examination centres assigned to them and deposit the scripts at the KSEEB office in Malleswaram.

The Fort High School in Chamarajpet was one of the examination centres assigned to Venkatesh. After collecting the answer scripts from the school, he allegedly brought them to the Government High School in Goripalya, which was not an examination centre.

Venkatesh, Thimmaiah and Enjeerappa allegedly hired some bright students to write the answers on fresh scripts and replaced the original answer scripts of the candidates, who had paid them money.

They also forged the signatures of the invigilators on the scripts before submitting them to the KSEEB office, the police said
