| He was kidnapped from his home in Faridabad by his family's tenants on April 6. The following day the family received a ransom call at a PCO near their house. The kidnappers demanded Rs seven lakh.
Ankit recounts how his family's tenants, Jacky and Pankaj, took him to the Faridabad railway station and boarded a train.
Shortly after the train left, the kidnappers tried to strangle Ankit with a rope, fearing that they would be discovered.
Ankit somehow managed to break free and jumped from the moving train.
The little boy fell onto the tracks and an oncoming train ran over him, cutting off his hand. Terrified but refusing to give up, Ankit picked himself up, retrieved his severed hand and ran for help.
"I fell on the track and my hand got cut off," said the braveheart.
Locals spotted Ankit near the railway tracks and rushed him to hospital. Doctors say his condition is stable but the boy is still in a state of shock.
"His will power saved him. This will be a stepping stone for him. He should be honoured with a bravery award," said Dr N K Pandey, Fortis Hospital.
Based on Ankit's statement, the police have now arrested Jacky and Pankaj.
