| Three days after being shocked by Bangladesh, South Africa put on a professional display to beat West Indies by an identical 67-run margin in their Super Eight match at Grenada on Tuesday.
Chasing a mammoth 357 to win, West Indies scored 289 for nine.
Propelled by AB de Villier's maiden one-day international hundred, the Proteas had smashed 356 for four after West Indies skipper Brian Lara asked them to bat first.
De Villiers, who made 146, and Jacques Kallis set up the perfect platform for Herschelle Gibbs and Mark Boucher to take their side past the 350-run mark. Boucher hit the third fastest fifty in World Cup history.
In reply, the Windies too began in a breezy fashion but the loss of wickets in quick succession ruined their chances of making it a good contest. Ramnaresh Sarwan stood tall with a fine 92.
De Villiers was adjudged Man of the Match. Windies attack butchered
Put in to bat, the Proteas lost the early wicket of Graeme Smith. He nicked a Corey Collymore delivery to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, making just eight runs. South Africa were then 21 for one after seven overs.
Kallis and De Villiers then tore into the West Indies attack as they hooked, pulled, cut and drove at will. The duo put on 170 runs, sending the Windies on a leather hunt.
Kallis finally fell for 81, bowled by Chris Gayle. His 86-ball knock included six fours and one six.
De Villiers went on to add 70 more runs with Gibbs. He was dismissed by Collymore, caught by Ian Bradshaw for 146. His 128-ball knock was studded with 12 fours and five sixes.
In one of the most inexplicable decisons by Lara, the Windies skipper held on to the final powerplay with just six overs left in the Proteas innings.
Gibbs and Boucher butchered the Windies in that five-over period of play, hitting 77 runs.
