| The Election Commission has decided to stand by its controversial member Navin Chawla despite the BJP's objections.
The panel has ruled that the full Commission will be present in the hearing on the BJP poll CD, which effectively means Chawla will attend the hearing.
In its order, the EC said a three member commission would hear the BJP CD case.
The BJP had objected to Chawla's presence in the hearing on grounds that the party's case for his removal is pending before the Supreme Court and that he would be biased against them.
The party cited a precedent in which a chief election commissioner was told by the Supreme Court to withdraw himself from a similar case because of allegations.
The BJP has accused him of receiving money from local area development funds of Congress MPs to run two charitable trusts in Jaipur.
