| Auto meters recalibration deadline |

| Starting today, autorickshaw drivers in the city will officially run out of excuses not to flag their meters.
The State Transport Authority had asserted several times in the last two months that the deadline for recalibrating mechanical meters to the revised tariff was April 25. The deadline for recalibrating electronic meters already passed on March 11.
Now only a third and final deadline — that of converting all mechanical meters to electronic meters — remains, slated for July 25.
Till Friday, 35,651 of the 45,000 odd autorickshaws in the city had recalibrated their meters to the rates that came into effect on January 26 — a minimum of Rs.14 for the first two kilometres and Rs.6 for every additional km.
The transport department authorities said stern action would be taken against violators once they sort out two problems: one, recalibration of certain brands of electronic meters.
