Court re-opens Mumbai car crashcase
The court heard the case on Thursday after taking it up on its own accord and adjourned it till June 6.
 INDIA , 3-May-2007  4:26:39 AM
The Bombay High Court has sought a report from Mumbai police on how the investigation was done after drunk driver Alistair Pareira mowed down seven people last November.

The court heard the case on Thursday after taking it up on its own accord and adjourned it till June 6.

The court asked why Pareira was charged with only two offenses when he was accused of six.

The chief justice was harsh on the investigating officers and pointed out several lapses in the case.

The court also wanted to know details of compensation given to the victims or their families.

The crash on Mumbai's Carter Road drew broad attention when a court awarded a light punishment of six months in jail because the evidence was weak.
