Polygraph test for encounter police
The Crime Investigation Department in Gujarat has sought permission to conduct brain mapping and polygraph tests on the three IPS officers arrested
 INDIA , 4-May-2007  10:22:15 AM
The Crime Investigation Department in Gujarat has sought permission to conduct brain mapping and polygraph tests on the three IPS officers arrested for killing Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter.

Sources have told NDTV that the CID has asked for the approval of the court to conduct tests on DG Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Dinesh MN.

Vanzara had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from Tulsiram Prajapati, an extortionist and an accused in a shooting case, to ensure Prajapati's case remains in his own jurisdiction wherever he went.

Sometime after this Prajapati witnessed the fake encounter in which sohrabuddin was killed.

Vanzara then asked for more money from Prajapati but he refused and filed a petition with a court superintendent saying he feared Vanzara would kill him the same way he had killed Sohrabuddin.

Before the petition could be moved in court Prajapati was arrested and later killed.

In fact, cell phone records show Vanzara was in constant touch with Banaskantha SP Vipul Aggarwal on the day Prajapati was killed and the SP was taken into confidence before Prajapati was killed.

The CID has also found that four previous encounter victims killed in 2004, including 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan, were kept in the same bungalow where Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi were kept before they were killed.

Sources have told NDTV Vanjara will be shifted to the Mehsana jail for safety reasons. Separate barracks are being prepared for him and the two others at the jail.
