| Magician Akash from Hyderabad achieved a unique feat on Sunday. He was tied with chains and thrown underwater at the Husain Sagar Lake in the city.
He escaped out of the shackles in what his trainers claim in just 15 seconds, which is a new world record.
The previous world record of 40 seconds was set by his father Jadugar Anand in the 1970s.
''Fifteen seconds is technically an underwater escape. Because if I wait for it to be completely submerged, that itself will take 25 seconds. So 25 plus 15 seconds will again come to 40 seconds which is the present record,'' said Akash.
Anand says his son will repeat the feat before a team from the Guinness Book of World Records.
''He is the only magician who has performed a fire escape seven times. It is considered great if it is done even once,'' said Jadugar Anand, World Record holder.
''So if Guinness people come, he will do underwater escape also four times,'' said Jadugar Anand, World Record holder,'' Anand added.
Akash, who is an MBA, says he loves to perform before a live audience and next plans to remain submerged in a box in water for half hour and then come out.
