| As she took over the reigns of the state for the fourth time, a 49-member cabinet was also sworn in, reflecting her broad support base.
Mayawati now wants reservations for the backward amongst the upper castes and minorities.
Interestingly, Mualyam Singh Yadav was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Meanwhile, within hours of being sworn in, Mayawati has made sweeping changes to UP's bureaucracy.
Shashank Shekhar has been appointed as the Cabinet Secretary of the state, a new post that's been created and she has transferred a staggering 100 bureaucrats in one go, including 12 IGs and 26 DIGs.
Mayawati's cabinet has a blend of old loyalists and neo-converts - a balance between various caste and community equations.
During her campaign she had threatened Mulayam Singh with a jail term and told her voters that the SP leader would flee the country. Mulayam Singh accepted the challenge.
On Sunday, he sat and watched a rival take oath - the first opposition leader to do that in years.
Later an unperturbed Mayawati threatened to undo and probe ''Mulayamraj.''
''Everything that the previous government did that was illegal or not for the benefit of the people will be investigated,'' said Mayawati.
