| Businessmen Hitesh and Hirji Chaudhari landed in Mumbai on May 10 after a harrowing wait at the Hong Kong airport.
Authorities there refused to let the first time travellers land and gave no clear reasons for the same.
''The emigration authorities in Hong Kong kept us waiting for seven hours. Then we were told to return to India that day itself. They did not give any reasons nor did they help us,'' recounts Hitesh.
Disappointed at not being able to make it to China, their final destination for an exhibition on light fixtures, Hitesh and Hirji were still glad to get back home.
But the nightmare for them and their families was far from over.
Traveller travails
In Mumbai, emigration authorities refused to let them pass because the authorities in Hong Kong had not clarified the reasons for deporting the two.
They were handed back to the airline they flew, Air India, and asked to wait for details from Hong Kong.
''We kept asking the airlines when we would be allowed to go. But they told us not to bother them and said they would let us know when the papers came through,'' said Hitesh.
''They gave us no blanket even though the terminal was freezing cold. Even our meals were not taken care of. We had no access to our bags even. We had a terrible time,'' added Hirji.
Hitesh and Hirji say they have been victims of red tape. However, the experience has failed to break their spirit.
Like true businessmen, they are hopeful of a successful trip soon.
