| Students can now sit in the comfort of their homes and log on to the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell's website to check out the seat availability. For, the CET Cell has initiated new measures to make the entire system more transparent and student-friendly.
Another initiative is that the optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets of all the students will be put up on the Internet.
"As the key answers are already on the Net, the students can assess their own performance after the OMR sheets are also uploaded. The OMR sheets of the more than one lakh students will be put up on the Internet on May 26," S.G. Hegde, Commissioner of Department of Pre-University Education and Special Officer of CET Cell, told a gathering of students and parents at the pre-counselling guidance programme organised by The Hindu EducationPlus.
The Cell will announce the results and the ranks on May 25, as notified in the calendar. The seat selection process will begin on May 30. "We released the calendar of events in January. We hope to complete the counselling early this year," he said.
Mr. Hedge said that to improve the system, the CET Cell had introduced the biometric examination. "Everyone knows that a signature is not as foolproof as the thumb impression. We introduced this to ensure that the chances of malpractice and impersonation cases come down."
