| An all party meeting -- the first of its kind -- will be held in Kolkata on Thursday to resolve the four and a half month long conflict at Nandigram in West Bengal's East Midnapore district.
Fourteen people were killed in police firing at Nandigram in March and since then the area has been tense with sporadic clashes between supporters of the CPI-M and the Trinamool-led Bhoomi Uchched Pratirodh Committee.
The all-party meeting will be held later but even hours before the meeting, it is still not clear who will attend, what is clear is that the top brass will not be a part.
Ashok Ghosh, the leader of the Left Front party, Forward Bloc, who is convening the meeting had earlier said that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and CPI (M) state secretary Biman Bose would attend the meeting that now seems unlikely.
They all are leaving for the capital for a Politburo meeting beginning Friday.
Mamata Banerjee's attendance, too, is not confirmed yet and even the BJP has not been invited to the meeting. They have threatened to gherao the venue in protest.
