| Counting of votes for the elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly is underway with reports of a neck-to-neck race coming in.
According to the results available so far, the Congress has won 15 seats followed by the BJP with 13 seats while Others have won seven seats.
Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane has won from Poriem assembly seat while former chief minister Manohar Parrikar has defeated Congress candidate Dinar Tarcar in the Panaji Assembly seat.
Sitting Congress MLA Alexio Sequiera has claimed the Loutolim seat. Also, Congress minister Digambar Kamat has won the Margao seat by defeating BJP candidate Sharmad Pai Raiturkar by 2,186 votes.
Congress candidate Shyam Satardekar has won from Curchorem while party nominee Francisco Silveira has bagged the St Andre seat.
In other results, BJP nominee and sitting MLA Vijay Pai Khot has won the Canacona Assembly seat by defeating Congress candidate Sanjay Bhandekar by 226 votes.
But former BJP state president Rajendra Arlekar has lost to NCP candidate Jose Philip in the Vasco Da Gama seat.
Also, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Wilfred D'Souza has lost to BJP candidate Dilip Parulekar in Saligao seat.
Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao's Save Goa Front candidate Alexo Louraco has defeated Speaker Fransisco Sardinha in the Curtorim seat.
Early trends
Goa Congress President Ravi Naik is leading in Ponda constituency while party MLA Agnelo Fernandes is leading in Calangute.
Sitting Congress MLA Joaquim Alemao is leading in Cuncolim while sitting BJP MLA Sadanand Tanawde is leading in Tivim constituency.
Sitting MLA and BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Parsekar is leading in Mandrem. The BJP is also leading in Mormugao while independent candidate Anil Salgaonkar is leading in Sanvordem.
Number game
In all, 202 candidates, including 49 independents, are in the fray for election, which was held on June 2.
