Gupta's confession corners
This statement was recorded on May 19 by which time Chetan Gupta had already been in the custody of the Vigilance Bureau for two days
 INDIA , 18-June-2007  2:0:21 AM
Allegations made by hawala operator Chetan Gupta have pushed the Congress and Punjab's former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh into an embarrassing corner.

NDTV has a copy of the case FIR and exclusive access to the confession made by Chetan Gupta to Punjab's Vigilance Bureau in the Rs 4000 crore Ludhina City Centre Scam.

This statement was recorded on May 19 by which time Chetan Gupta had already been in the custody of the Vigilance Bureau for two days.

Chetan Gupta's Profile

In the confession, Gupta describes the alleged scam in awarding the contract for the building of the Ludhiana City Centre, and has named Amarinder, his son Raninder Singh, or Tikku, and his brother-in-law Natwar Singh, the former foreign minister and his son Jagat Singh.

''In the beginning of year 2005, Tikku telephonically called me at Moti Bagh Palace, Patiala. When I reached there, Shri Surinder Singla, Ex Finance Minister, Punjab, Amarinder Singh, Ex CM Punjab, Bhartinder Singh Chahal and others were present.''

''Captain Amarinder Singh and Tikku told me that they have to get the Ludhiana City Centre project in favour of GK Gambhir of Today Homes Pvt Ltd, Delhi. The project will give the profit of nearly Rs 4,000 crore and out of the said amount, Rs 100 crore is to be sent to AICC and the rest to be distributed amongst ourselves.''

''He asked for my help to send the said amount to foreign countries through Hawala and to purchase properties in various countries. I had already sent a lot of money out of India through Hawala in the internet scam at the asking of Captain Amarinder Singh and Tikku, therefore I consented,'' said Gupta.
