| Thousands of people in the northeastern state of Tripura have been made homeless by floods after monsoon rains in the region.
Reports on Tuesday said water has started receding but at least 3000 families were affected.
Initial reports said three people died.
Strong winds uprooted trees and lamp posts which blocked roads and left a trail of destruction on National Highway 44 that connects the state with Assam.
Lanslides also cut off many parts of the state.
More than 500 families in Teliamura area were moved to temporary shelters after the floods swept away houses.
''Three houses on this side, two here and two there are all swept off,'' said Sheuli Bhowmik.
Farmers said they are the worst sufferers because crops developed with loans have been destroyed.
Over 550 mm of rainfall in the last three days affected four districts and inundated five rivers.
The floods submerged many villages in Bishalgarh on the border with Bangladesh
