| Two senior police officials were on Tuesday reinstated by the Jammu and Kashmir government in connection with the porn CD case.
The magisterial inquiry cleared them of the charge of allowing TV news channels to interview Miss Jammu, Anara Gupta, in police custody.
The order reinstating Superintendent of Police Deepak Salathia and Deputy SP Tanveer Jeelani comes just three days ahead of the release of Bollywood film 'Anara' in which the former Miss Jammu plays the protagonist.
The Home Department issued the order on the findings submitted to the government by the one-man magisterial panel last week, officials said.
Surav Bhagat, currently posted as Deputy Commissioner of Doda, was appointed probe officer in the case soon after Ghulam Nabi Azad took over as Chief Minister, they said.
Salathia and Jeelani were among seven police officials, including Inspector Kiran Bala, suspended last year on the Jammu and Kashmir High Court orders for allegedly allowing TV channels to interview Anara in police custody in December 2004.
A case was registered against former beauty queen on November 3, 2003 after a pornographic CD in which she was alleged to have featured came to light in October 2004.
The High Court closed the case but a lower court ordered a fresh probe in May last year.
The state police chief had constituted a fresh team under an SSP to probe the case in January this year.
Anara has played the lead in the Bollywood film on the trauma suffered by her following the sex scandal.
The movie is due for a countrywide release on June 22.
