| It is a visual treat for everyone to see the bright, colourful shikaras in the lake.
But what's unusual is the venue, which is not the Dal in Srinagar rather sukhna lake in northern Chandigarh.
Now one can enjoy a shikara ride hundreds of kilometres away at the Sukhna Lake.
''I am feeling very good. I am enjoying here. This is the second time I am riding in a shikara,'' said Chandu, resident.
''This is a first for me. It is fantastic,'' said Aashu, resident.
Quite popular
Paddle boats are quite popular in Sukhna lake but there's a feeling shikaras will promote tourism in a bigger way.
''We requested J&K government and brought these shikaras. We want that tourists should enjoy their ride here as much as they do in Srinagar,'' said A K Malhotra, Managing Director, Chandigarh Tourism.
The initial response has been overwhelming.
''I want to ride these shikaras as soon as I can,'' said Mansi, a tourist.
Chandigarh may not compare well with Srinagar when it comes to the weather but for those who cannot make it to the valley yet crave for a shikara ride this is the place to be.
