DU to announce first admission list
Cutoffs are even higher than last year.
 INDIA , 26-June-2007  3:26:54 AM
The first admission list will be out on Tuesday in all the colleges of Delhi University and it seems that thousands of aspirants from across the country are going to be disappointed.

Cutoffs are even higher than last year.

Four of Delhi University's most prestigious colleges - Hindu, Ramjas, Kirorimal and Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) - have announced their first cutoff list and there has been a 2 per cent increase over last year's figures.

To get into the most popular course in Hindu College - the B Com Honours - Commerce students will need to have 94.25 per cent and above.

Sky high cut-offs

Non-Commerce students will need to have 96.5 per cent to get into Sri Ram College of Commerce while a Commerce student will need to have 94.75 per cent.

The cutoffs for the Economics Honours course for Commerce students are even higher - 96 per cent in the case of SRCC, 95.5 per cent in case of Hindu and 93.75 per cent in Lady Sri Ram College.

It's only marginally lower for non-Commerce students.

A Science student wanting to get into Economics in Hindu College will need to have 94 per cent and 93.75 per cent to get into Lady Sri Ram College

Students coming from the Humanities stream will need to get 93 per cent to get into the Economics course in SRCC, 92 per cent to get into Hindu and 88 per cent for KMC.

''Even with such high marks, we don't get admission. This is a terrible situation,'' said Mehak, Student.

Many students despite scoring 90 per cent may have to settle for colleges and courses other than their first choice.
