Minister speaks out on Bangalore
This information comes even as his custody could possibly end later on Monday at 7 pm.
 INDIA , 9-July-2007  3:37:6 AM
For the first time, Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash has spoken out about the Bangalore connection to the failed UK terror attack.

In an exclusively interview to NDTV, the minister's also said there is conclusive proof that Dr Mohammad Haneef, the Indian doctor held by Australian Federal Police over the failed UK terror plot since last week, is probably indirectly involved in the UK terror plot.

This information comes even as his custody could possibly end later on Monday at 7 pm.

He has been detained since Monday last after he was prevented from taking a flight from Brisbane when he was trying to leave the country on a one-way ticket.

Meanwhile, Haneef's lawyer Peter Russo has spoken to ABC Radio about how information on the case was not being shared and how his primary source of information was the media.

''It's very unfair,'' he said. ''The only way you can get a fair and balanced hearing is when both parties get an opportunity to view each other's material and make submissions based on the information that's before the magistrate and also the opportunity to get some instructions in relation to the allegations - if any - that are being made,'' he said.

The Karnataka minister also told NDTV that there appears to be conclusive proof about Kafeel Ahmed's identity.

He said there is credible information that Kafeel is indeed the man who drove the jeep into the Glasgow airport.

Senior police officials had told NDTV on Sunday that Kafeel's parents believed it was their son from the footage they saw on television. Police are now examining computer discs taken from the Ahmad's residence in Bangalore.

Kafeel Ahmed is the man who sustained over 90 per cent burns at the failed attack at Glasgow airport terminal and is widely believed to be the man who drove the jeep into the terminal.
