| Shyam Lal, a miner in Panna in Madhya Pradesh, can't believe his luck.
After all he discovered a 15 carat diamond in his mine on Thursday.
The diamond could be worth Rs 40 lakh. Lal took the 8 feet by 10 feet plot on lease eight years ago.
He had been struggling to earn a livelihood. But all that is set to change.
''I am very happy. My family was struggling financially but after I found diamond I am sure things will turn around,'' said Shyam Lal.
Experts think it is a rare diamond.
''It is pretty precious diamond. It has a natural octahedral shape,'' said JK Solanki, Diamond Expert.
Dream of good
Shyam Lal's family have begun to dream of good times.
''We were living in poverty but now my children can study further,'' said Sukun Lunia, Shyam Lal's wife.
''I always wanted to be a collector. Now I can think of becoming one,'' said Sania Lunia, Lal's daughter.
Eight years, when Shyam Lal took the plot on lease he could have never imagined that he would run into such wealth. It is a dream come true for him.
