| Soon after the September 11 terror attack in 2001, faces of two youth from Hyderabad were flashed across the world.
Mohd Ayub and Javed Azmath were branded terrorists and were detained in the US. Eighteen months later, they returned home because there was no evidence to prove they had any terror links.
Javed Azmath and his wife Tasleem say they can understand what Mohd Haneef's family in neighbouring Karnataka is living through.
''My case and Haneef's case are similar. The government framed but could not prove anything in court. It is the same here as well. They have framed but the court has not approved. So they are trying to prolong the case,'' said Javed Azmath, 9/11 accused.
Azmath says while the Indian government has been supportive in Haneef's case, more questions need to be asked on a lot of information being made public by federal agencies as though they are facts and evidence.
''When I was arrested, they said I am responsible for the World Trade Centre attack. That, I am a Saudi citizen with passport and birth certificate. They made my flying licence as well whereas I could not fly at all. Everything can be fabricated,'' Azmath added.
Azmath is hoping to win the legal case he is fighting in the US claiming damages for illegal detention and defamation before the year-end but he says life, after once being branded a terrorist, has never been the same again for him and his family.
