| Pratibha Patil to assume office |
| Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new President.

| History will be made on Wednesday when the people's President APJ Abdul Kalam makes way for India's first woman president Pratibha Patil.
She will be sworn in as the 12th President of the Republic in the Central Hall of Parliament at 2.30 this afternoon.
Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new President.
Patil will then become the first woman to hold the country's highest constitutional office. And she will be referred to as Rashtrapati.
The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his cabinet colleagues, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and others.
