| Nine Days after the Laxmi Chhaya building collapsed at Borivali, the police have arrested 39-year old Kailash Jain, the main accused in the case.
Jain, owner of Vardhaman jewellers, had been absconding ever since the building collapse, but was arrested at 1 am on Thursday morning.
He is currently being held in police custody at the Borivili Police Station. He will be charged under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
A city court on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory bail application of the jeweller accused of criminal negligence.
Jain is alleged to have done some major structural changes inside his shop, which is suspected to have caused the partial collapse of a six-storeyed building killing 29 people and injuring 18 others.
Jain's brother Sanjay was arrested on Sunday and remanded to police custody till July 31.
