Discrepancies over Subba's birth ..
Now for the first time he has produced a birth certificate stating he was born in Siliguri of West Bengal and turned 48 last year.
 INDIA , 28-July-2007  2:45:30 AM
Lottery king and Congress MP M K Subba is a man of many birthdays. For the past 10 years he has been fighting allegations that he is a Nepali citizen and not a bonafide Indian.

Now for the first time he has produced a birth certificate stating he was born in Siliguri of West Bengal and turned 48 last year.

That means a difference of seven years and hundreds of kilometers from his various other official documents.

His staff members maintain the stand they have for many years, that discrepancy in the date of birth is the clerical error and not an intended one.

''He keeps saying different things. According to the document he has four different dates of births. It's a complete lie his passport says something else,'' said Ambhoj Sinha, lawyer's petitioner.

Adding to confusion

Instead of clearing up the confusion the latest document just adds to it

The birth certificate says that he was born in 1958. But the records of the Guwahati passport office show he was born in 1951.

According to his Lok Sabha affidavit of 2004 he was born in 1958.

In the 13th Lok Sabha the date is the same but the place of birth changes from Siliguri to Tezpur.

And back in 1998 his affidavit in Lok Sabha said he was born in 1951.

The petition against M K Subba alleges that he is actually Maniraj Limbo an escaped murder convict from Nepal.

The Supreme Court has to verify whether his latest document is genuine but so far even the CBI has been unable to establish whether he is Indian or Nepali.
